Another day of studying...

Woke up to another miserable day knowing that I have to study for the finals next week. Holiday mood symptoms have set in, nobody likes to wake up late and then study. Well, I guess for the next two weeks I will be abandoning my blog for a while. Anyway, woke up this afternoon and cooked myself another nutritious meal. Alright, it isn't that nutritious but it is good and essential for a day of studying and gym. Instant noodles are one of mankind's greatest achievements. ;)
Above: ChuaKZ's Special Instant Noodle, consisting of instant noodles cooked in anchovy and prawn stock, fresh prawns, mushroom and tofu skin (tauki), topped with 2 fried bullseye egg.

Phone stolen...again...and then found out it was a prank by my friend

So I was going to the mamak stall to have some Roti John and roast chicken with my friends after gym. Laughing about and getting mad and on the way back to the car after our comedy session I found my phone missing. Called it with my friend's phone and it was off, and I never ever off my phone. Gosh these thieves are fast. Anyway, I don't think he's gonna sell that rusty, dirty, sweaty old phone for big bucks. Thanks for the new phone pal. =) Fucker's gonna ruin the fade of my jeans, especially after the fading left behind from my phone which just started to form...damnit.

Update: Phone was "stolen" by my friend who thought it was funny to play a prank on me. =.=

My Daily Roti Movie Reviews - RED (2010)

I supposed to be staying in my room after gym to study today. However, woman wanted to watch the new movie, RED very badly so we headed to Midvalley to catch the movie. I was pretty excited about the movie as well since I'm a big action movie fan. Furthermore, it has Bruce Willis in it. Also, Morgan Freeman is in it, and John Malkovich, that weird looking guy that starred in Burn After Reading. Helen Mirren, who is 65 years old, also stars in this movie and is incredibly attractive in a milfy way. Anyway, all of them along with Brian Cox played as retired CIA, MI6 and Russian secret agents, hence the movie title RED (Retired, Extremely Dangerous). This movie is also loosely based on some comic book series.

All I have to say is that this movie reminds me of the famous Die Hard series featuring Bruce Willis. Don't wanna be a spoiler so won't tell you about the story line but the movie is extremely entertaining and funny just like Die Hard. John Malkovich who played Marvin, a retired CIA agent who is now a bit mental is extremely entertaining and funny. Bruce Willis as usual, played a cool character who is quiet about everything and kicks all the asses. A lot of ass kicking and face bashing by a bunch of old people. Action movie fans should catch this movie along with comedy fans. A movie for good laughs and good entertainment and good fun. Recommended.

My Roti Rating: 8/10 (you will be recommended by me to try this piece of roti)

My Daily Roti Movie Reviews - The Other Guys

Another week another movie, this time it's The Other Guys starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, two of my least hated Hollywood guys along with short appearances of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson, again two of my least hated guys in Hollywood. So 4 of my least hated Hollywood stars in one movie, sounds promising. But is it?

Fortunately, this movie didn't turn out to be shit. The opening sequence with Dwayne and Sam doing the cop chase thing was good. In fact I think every scene with these two guys was a good laugh. Basically the movie is about two over enthusiastic cops, feeding of the fame they're getting, always taking big risks and making headlines. However the risk taking was too much when they jumped off a building and killed themselves. Since the city is now in need of new heroes, the other cops in the department, aka The Other Guys are looking at taking up their places. Nerd cop that prefers paperwork and actionman teams up and tries to solve case. The movie did provide some good laughs and fun. However, personally I think it would be better if the characters Dwayne and Sam were playing didn't die so early, well of course they had to but I just wish they didn't. Not a bad plot, good action, good humour and good fun to watch. A movie that you will most definitely enjoy but will eventually forget about in the near future.

My Roti Rating: 7/10 (nice roti but won't crave for more)

My eyesss!!!!

We had a very very bad haze yesterday in Malacca and nooo....it was not due to too many cars on the road or too man people smoking joints. It was because someone in neighbouring Sumatra decided...Mmmm...I need more land...maybe I should burn some grass or a little tree standing in my way. He does it and then it quickly becomes a raging inferno emitting smoke like a giant tobacco stick which then gets blown into our face and cause us lung cancer or lungigitis or watever breathing problems and for me, eye problems. Until today I still don't understand why these fuckers aren't getting into jail. What is the Indonesian government doing? Damn it, woke up with teary eyes and found myself looking like Sadako from The Ring this morning.

Makaning - Mars Ice-cream

Phew, it was a tiring day today. Woke up early in the morning to go and renew my passport and spent part of the day at my cousin's chattin and shit. Came back, rested and immediately went back to work cleaning my guinea pigs' cage.
Above: SWEEK-y clean.
What's better than a stick of ice cream after a hard day's work? So I headed to my fridge expecting to see a few boxes of Magnum Almond and Potongs. However, something else caught my eye.....
Above: Mmmmmmm....I'm gonna get you
I immediately grabbed hold of it, ripping it apart and using my fingers to dig into it's contents like an aye aye picking for sweet juicy grubs in a rotten log. Lo and behold, my first encounter with Mars Ice-cream. I'm sure all of us had at least taken a bite of a Mars bar before. Nutty and delicious, but OMG this ice cream is easily 10X better. Basically the white sticky stuff (No, not what you're thinking) is replaced with ice cream and it really works wonders. For nut lovers you would miss the nuts though. Amazingly good. ;)
Above: Mmm....exactly like a fat juicy grub.
Above: Looks like any regular Mars bar.
Above: Like a grub, Hard chocolate exoskeleton on the outside and caramelly and creamy flesh on the insides.

My Daily Roti Kopitiam - Stop Teaching Science & Maths in English?? Stupid?

When Dr Mahathir introduced the system of teaching Science and Mathematics in English in 2003, I was one of the people who rejoiced. Finally, our government has done something beneficial for us for the good of our future. I remembered, I was actually the 2nd batch of students to be given the privilege to be taught under this system. However, recently our government has thought that "Mmmm....people in the kampungs are suffering...we should teach in Malay". So from 2012 onwards, the teaching of S & M (stop thinking bout something else you horny people) will be done in Malay!

I was extremely disappointed with this decision. Only after 6 yrs (decision was made in 2009), our government has given up and Dr Mahathir is not a happy bloke. Now, I think I should let you know in case you don't read the news that this is because of a protest by Malay linguist saying that this could threaten the Malay language. No offense, but this is for our future. Some might argue that countries like Japan and China have their S & M taught in local languages but they are still more advanced than us. Well, if you compare us to Japan or China, most of their university courses are done in native languages. Most of them will also work in their country which provides good jobs with good pay (in Japan at least). Here, our courses are taught in English and I have known so many people before me that struggled to keep up with the terms. Even nowadays, many students that went through the English system struggle in keeping up. So how are they going to keep up if they are taught in Malay? If you are in Japan, a very scientifically advanced company like Honda or Toyota will hire you and your job is done mostly in Japanese. Here, our jobs are done in English! English! You teach Science in Malay and you go to work in an English speaking environment, not damn Malay!

In the old days, everything was taught in English. It took many years for certain non-Malay speaking students to keep up with studying Malay when the system was changed, my dad was one of them. It needs to take the same time for students with weak English to master the language. 6 years is not a long time, and in this short time our government has given up hope. I asked many lecturers and so many of them told us it is so much better nowadays for students to be able to understand the terms in Scientific courses especially. Before that, a lot of students had to go through hell. I am sure that if you are a modern human being wanting our country to prosper in the future, you would know that we need to globalise our country. Admit it or not, we have to know that English is THE global language. If you don't speak English, you can't compete with the world. With exception the already ultra-modern countries like Germany or Japan where they can and will continuously keep up with global trends even while neglecting English. Problem is they have the resources and the ability to do so, we don't. This is the reason why we slack behind countries like Singapore. Singapore is very much a globalised nation. They are educated in English, yet they have not forgotten their roots. This is evident in the films they make, they still make them in Chinese. So, why we as Malaysians, wanting our country to be globalised and modern, still reluctant to accept the importance of English? Why are we still fearing globalisation of making our next generation forget about their roots when they wouldn't? Why O our government, why did you make another stupid mistake?

People, please, comment and tell me your views on this issue and please, make a change if you can. The general elections are coming soon, if you are eligible for voting, register yourself and make a change.

My Denim Adventure - Week 8

It's been awhile since I promised to upload the progress of my raw jeans. Well, it took me so long really because I didn't see any significant progress in my jeans. Maybe I'm just being a little bit impatient as it takes as long as 1 year to truly break into your jeans.

For the past 8 weeks I have ran in them, walked in them, slept with them and the signs are starting to show. There are already signs of fading, it really felt like it has been more than a year since I bought them. They also got a litle bit shinier for reasons not known to me, though another denim freak has reported the same with his pair of Dr Denims. The blue dye also bled on some of my stuff, especially evident on my shoes and belt. Another thing that comes with constant wearing and running and walking and all other physical activities is sweat. My jeans are starting to smell abit bad, just a tad bit. One of the solutions provided by the denim geeks is that to kill the smell temporarily, thy shall puteth thy jeans into thy freezer. If the smell gets real bad, another solution is dry cleaning to get rid of smell without getting rid of the layer of starch. For now, the smell is still minimal, so I will keep on wearing them for another 2 months or more until the smell is too bad for me to go into public.
Above: Week 2 on the left and week 8 on the right....more "whiskers" appearing on the jeans and becoming more permanent.
Above: Creases have become more permanent and fading a little, too little to be captured by camera.
Above: Little outline of fading where I place my handphone.
Above: Fading on button-fly, note the lighter blue.
Above: Fading on crotch, constant rubbing on them with my balls have done their damage.

My dog got cancer??

My dog, Honey, which you can see here, had a growth on her left front leg which my parents described as a "cherry". I always knew that she had something there but not until that it grew to the size of a cherry did we really pay any attention to it.

Mum and dad was worried and my sister took her to the vet and found out that it was a tumour and got it removed in a small surgery last Monday. We decided to get it checked if it was cancerous. So, today the nurse called my mum and here is the conversation below.

Nurse: Mrs Chua, your dog confirm cancer lah.
Mum: Hah?!! (pass the phone to my dad)
Dad: Hello?
(Vet took phone away from nurse)
Vet: Sorry Mr Chua, the tumour is benign, not cancerous. She does need to slim down though, too    fat.

Shocked my mum, lol. Anyway, this is how Honey looks like for now. It's funny watching her scraping the ground and banging around stuff with the collar on. Apologise for the quality though, cams not with me.

Why I can't look at girls at the gym leh?

Because they are distractions and distractions are not good when working out. My worst experience was trying to take a short nap while running on the treadmill at full speed. When I woke up I saw myself at the end of the treadmill and while panicking and trying to get myself back into a safe position....."ngeek ngeek ngeek"...sound of rubber shoe soles rubbing against running treadmill and followed by a loud sequence of "bing bang"s..."Oh", "Ooo" and "Ahh" from the aunties around me. I fell down and in a confused state got up and climb on to the still running treadmill. "Ngeek ngeek ngeek" again for the same reason and "Oh", "Ooo" and "Ahh" again from the aunties around me. For some miraculous reason I actually got up on the treadmill. It was my most embarassing moment at the gym...ever and caused me to fear and distance myself away from treadmills ever since. No, don't laugh, it's not funny. =(

Unfortunately, I ran into bad luck again today. I was dreaming while trying to remove a 25lbs weight and it slipped and fell on my toe. Gosh it does hurt a damn lot. Many times more compared to the pain my ass received from the treadmill incident. Below is what it looks like. Enjoy Sympathize me.

My Daily Roti Movie Reviews - Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

Another week and another movie, was supposed to go for class but skipped classes altogether and instead went for a light lunch at Wondermilk (which I will blog about soon) and a movie at Tropicana Mall. There were not many interesting movies so we decided to watch Legend of the Guardians.

Basically this movie is all about owls...owls owls and owls. Corny good vs evil storyline narnia style. Folktales being told and being realised in reality. Little owlet goes on to become powerful hero and future leader (yawn...we saw this coming). Jealous brother goes on to join the evil owls and I forsee him being the leader of the evil owls in the sequel? (yawn again...Austin powers?) Mum and dad is happy and forgets about their other son. Good wins in the end as usual....happily ever after. It's a rather boring and corny plot. One thing I have to say is that the animation is simply fanbloodytastic. Every detail, feather and everything is clear and defined. Beautiful piece of computer generated animation. Nice action scenes, amazing animation but gets let down by dry plot. Gets points for animation. =)

My First Cooking Lesson from my Grandaunt

My grandaunt had always helped around in our family. Back in the old days when my parents were busy with work, she was always the one who took care and fed us all and boy does she know how to cook some good food. So as she promised me, she taught me how to cook one of my all time favourites, mee goreng last Saturday. If you have forgotten, I promised to upload this post the past week but I was too busy having fun during my hols. =) Anyway, it's a simple dish.

List of ingredients:
Chilli Paste:
Garlic, Onions, Dried Chilli.
Pounded into a paste. It's better to make the paste yourself as certain chilli paste bought outside might not contain all the wanted ingredients. Also, please do not use a mixer, food made with hard work and sweat always taste better. ;)

Other Ingredients:
Soy sauce
Garlic
Egg noodles
Peeled and deveined fresh prawns
Taugua (sort of a fried bean curd)
Dried shrimp (pounded)
Beansprouts
Egg
Oil of course
Lime for dressing

You can also add other stuff in, pork, chicken, anything that suits your taste. I prefer mine without greens. ;)

1) First fry taugua in a lil bit of oil until golden brown and then place in dish. (no pics)
2) Then lightly sear prawns with a little bit of garlic and dish up when cooked.
3) Fry pounded dried shrimp in oil until fragrant.
4) Add chilli paste, fry until fragrant and then add egg and beat the egg in the wok.

5) Add prawns and fry together in mixture.
6) Add noodles and a bit of soy sauce and fry in mixture.
7) Lastly, add beansprouts and fry until cooked.
8) Gorge and feast on mee goreng.
