Trip tommorow, how to not get fatter?
Will be leaving for NY tommorow. There is only one thing that I fear about this trip. No, it's not getting shot by some crazy yank. I'm worried about the food. 12 days without gym will really threaten all my efforts to try to get slimmer during the holidays. Perhaps I should wear as much as I can in the snow just to add up to my body weight, hence more effort needed to drag myself along, thus using up more energy and burning up more fat in the process. Anyhow, I hope that the hotel we will be staying at will have a gym. For now, let's party for new years eve!

Last Day at Work
As the title suggests, it's now, as I'm typing, my last day at work. Just reached home light headed and freakin happy. Anyway, reflections on my first time working. Working is great, meeting new people, learning new things and making new friends. I expected work to be hell on earth but it's all fun and shit. Coincidentally. a few of my old pals came today to the cafe. Just wanna thank everybody at work for all the fun and the drinks....off to the Big Apple soon. Cheers! =)

Makaning - Home Pan-Fried Steak
I have to admit that I'm more of a carnivore than a herbivore and I view vegetarians as idiots because of the flavour that they are missing from meat. Meat is an amazing creation of God. If there was an Oscars for God, it would be because he made meat taste so good. Among all the meats available for human consumption, beef must be one of the most flavourful and the simplest to cook.
For my version, just a simple dash of salt, ground black pepper and rosemary will do. Mmmm...and don't overcook it, bloody in the middle with a pan-seared crust on the outside to seal the flavour and juices inside. Heaven. Protein rich and easier to cook than Magee, the best pre-workout meal for me. =)
Above: Ahh...bloody in the centre. Perfect. |
Above: Defrosting is the most troublesome step in cooking. A lot of the juices might be lost here. Left my microwave all bloody. |

Happy Holidays Everyone from MyDailyRoti!!
I can't believe how many times I have repeatedly typed this sentence, "It's been awhile since I updated my blog." but it's been a while since I updated my blog. As I've mentioned for the millionth time, I'm tangled with gym in the afternoon and my part time job at night. At the moment that I am typing this sentence, it is Christmas Day and I will be working at night...sheesh, just like Christmas eve.
Anyway, I will probably have more time to update my blog and more interesting stuff to blog about once I go to the Big Apple next week. =) In the meantime, you guys are probably thinking that the pathetic fatass that runs this blog is just giving excuses because he has nothing to blog about. Of course everybody knows now that I work at a cafe bar at night, but just to prove that I go to gym in the afternoon, I uploaded a picture of me outside the gym, and I also ticked something off my bucket list. =)

My Daily Roti Movie Reviews - Tangled (2010)
Well, things didn't turn out my way that day and I went for Tangled. Basically, it's a slightly modified version or the original Rapunzel story. I'm sure everyone knows Rapunzel. Yes, Rapunzel, the girl with long hair?? Um...the hair that the witch uses to climb up to her tower?? If you still have no idea what or who I'm talking about, I suggest you go buy a Ladybird story book with the title "Rapunzel".
Anyway, it seems that through my research, this movie is the most expensive animated film ever made and the SECOND MOST EXPENSIVE movie ever made! Thanks to all the complex CGI animation. I have to admit the CGI is pretty fantastic, the hair especially. You can really notice every single hair fibre in there. Maybe if you use a microscope and pause the movie at the same time you can see her hair cells. As with most animations, the plot is good. I have to say there were parts where I had to force myself to not laugh, or smile just to let my pals know my dislike of animations. I however genuinely dislike the Disney-ish singing and dancing stuff, also the lovey dovey parts, but I respect that this is all part of Disney tradition.
So my verdict, this is a nice and enjoyable film for families with kids especially. For people that like to keep a straight face, it might not be your cup of tea.
My Roti Rating: 6.5/10 (It's just not my favourite piece of roti)

My Denim Adventure - Week 17
Been so busy lately, with gym taking up my afternoons and work at nights that I have to put my blog on hold for a few days. Anyway, it'll be week 17 of trying to break into my jeans come this Friday, which at this moment that I'm typing these words on my computer, is tomorrow. 4 months had gone by so soon but yet there is still minimal fading. Stuff that I had learnt: patience is a virtue in the raw denim game.
Anyway, as I had mentioned in one of my previous posts, I took my jeans for dry cleaning after sunbathing failed to kill the smell after weeks of continuous wear. I collected my jeans on Tuesday and checked them out, sniffing them at the same time, and now they smell just like a new pair of jeans. No more stains, no more dirt. They also shrunk a little, almost to how they were when I first bought them. In fact, they look almost new apart from the little patches of faded areas. In less than 2 months time, I will have to decide whether to wash them for the first time or wait another 6 months. =)

Above: All ironed and ready for work tommorow. |
Anyway, updates on my raws. Apparently my parents couldn't tahan the sick smell oozing out of my jeans and I had to bring it for dry cleaning on Wednesday. Will report on result once they are ready to be worn again next week. Anyway, did rather badly for my exams. God please help me do well next sem...Amen.

Bekerja-ing 'tama kali...I got my first job!
As the title of this post shows, I have landed my very first job. Alright, at 19 it is not all that impressive. I've seen kids much younger than me with blue hair selling pirated DVDs at pasar malams and kids that are still in primary school selling packets of junk food in baskets at mamaks but I'm not here to impress. Rather, I'm actually trying to earn more money so I can spend it on my trip to the Big Apple. Heck, I have nothing much to do at home anyway and getting some working experience is beneficial.
I will be working as a part-timer at a newly opened cafe bar, something like a bistro called Establishment. Located just opposite the entrance of Dataran Pahlawan near Equatorial Hotel, corner lot under the new Korean barbecue restaurant. Be sure to pay me a visit, there will be a 10% discount for you. =)

My Daily Roti Movie Reviews - Social Network (2010)
I've been pretty free until about 3 days ago, which was Sunday. Packed up and on to KL for two nights to apply for my US Visa. Anyway, I'm back to My Daily Roti and up and blogging again. Last Saturday, I think, my pals decided to ask me to go for a movie. Now, I had just finished my semester not long ago and was trying to catch up with the newest going-ons in the outside world, so they asked me to come along for a movie. I figured that I haven't been to the cinema for a while and I said yes of course. So they bought tickets for some movie called Social Network, which has Justin Timberlake in it. So you know what I was thinking about then? "Oh my God, not another chick flick!", but it turned out alright.
Social Network is basically the story behind facebook. Yes, the facebook that you and I signed up for and "like" unnecessary fan pages. Justin Timberlake played Sean Parker, who in real life looks like a shaggy spaniel instead of Timberlake-y. Anyway, of course being Hollywood, they had to pollute the real story a little bit by garnishing it up with a little bit of mild sex and stuff. It was quite an interesting movie to watch but it made me feel a little bit stupid, what am I doing sitting on my bed blogging and you reading this wherever you are? While Mark Zuckerberg had become the world's youngest billionaire?
Anyway it's worth a watch for anybody that has a Facebook account, which I assume is half of the 6 billion human population on planet Earth. An enjoyable and simple movie, nothing much to complain about.
My Roti Rating: 8/10 (Anybody will enjoy this piece of roti)
