My First Pair of Raw Denim =)

Swede brand Dr Denim Jeansmakers
Finally I got my first pair of raw denim from Dr Denim Jeansmaker. Now I know many of you know nuts about raw denim so let me explain to you. Basically raw denim is denim that have not been washed or detailed. Before the pair of jeans that you are wearing or you currently own got its fadings and details...or what we in M'sia call "pattern", they are basically dyed whole dark blue indigo in colour using starch or some shit like that. Raw denim is denim that did not go through that process of artificial fading, hence, the starch and the dark blue indigo colour remains. So what so special bout it?

As we all know trousers do crumple up and get wrinkles here and there when we wear them for a while. The special thing about raw denim is that as you wear them for a long...and I mean really long time, the places that crumple up and wrinkle up gradually fades in colour due to the dye being disturbed. After a long long while, wrinkles will form and become more and more detailed. Since all of us have different body shapes and sizes, the pair of denim will crumple up at different places, so what turns out are more natural fades. The important thing is that to get beautiful fades you have to wear them for AT LEAST 6 months without washing (if you wash, the starch and colour will be washed off and makes the jeans harder to fade), and if you can, better results for 1 year without washing. Fortunately, you can dry clean them.

So...the result of all this hard work is a pair of jeans that literally is made for you by you. Nobody will have the same pair, same fades, same wrinkles. Think of it as a custom made pair of jeans for yourself. My raw denim adventure begins. Will update every month on the fades...hopefully. =)
